Avoid Wedding Panic With These 5 Planning Tips

Your wedding can be the best and most stressful day of your life all wrapped into one hectic, romantic, nerve-wracking, and ultimately rewarding package. However, the dominant feeling should always be on the positives. In order to keep the jitters and last-minute panic at bay, follow these 5 wedding planning tips.

Start Early!
Begin your wedding preparations before the fizz has settled on that celebratory engagement champagne – okay, this may be a slight exaggeration for dramatic effect, but it’s definitely a good idea to get started with plenty of time in the bank.

Starting early will allow you to think clearly, you’ll be able to get your hands on the best deals, people will have plenty of notice to book time off, and you’ll avoid that last-minute panic that can give the whole affair a negative tint.

Work With the Weather
Even if you book your wedding day for the middle of summer, there’s no guarantee you’ll get that bright and gorgeous sunshine you’re looking for. Unfortunately, you’re at the mercy of Mother Nature on this one.

However, that doesn’t mean you should let the rain or wind get in the way of a good time. Just make sure you have plenty of umbrellas at the ready should it start tipping it down! Work with the weather, not against it.

Leave a Buffer in Your Budget
Even if you’re a meticulous planner, there’s no way to avoid small costs that seem to spring up out of nowhere. Whether due to human error or simply a dose of bad luck, additional costs are a near certainty when it comes to weddings.

That’s why it’s so very important to keep a percentage of your overall budget stowed away for those rainy days. You don’t want to be looking for handouts or coins hidden in your sofa at the very last minute.

Ask For Help
It’s tempting to try and do everything yourself from A to Z, but the key to a happy wedding prep season is to delegate. Ask your friends and family to chip in where necessary – they’ll be happy to get involved and lend you a hand!

Alternatively, hire a wedding planner right from the get go. They have the expertise and know-how and will be able to advise you on the best timesaving and cost-cutting measures for your big day.

Perfection? Forget It!
We all have an idea of what that ‘perfect wedding day’ should look like – but don’t expect a smooth ride the entire way, nor a carbon copy of what you’ve got planned in your head. The fact is, not everything is going to be absolutely perfect.

So before you even start the planning process, go into it knowing that even the most careful plan will never deliver on every single point. That’s just the nature of the beast. Managing expectations is an important part of enjoying your nuptials.

Remember, it’s all about celebrating the love between you and your partner. Your guests aren’t going to recall whether the flowers matched the décor – that’s not what’s important. If things don’t follow your exact plan, don’t let it ruin the moment!
